Ruth Ellis Center

A range of housing options and opportunities are available to support LGBTQ+ young people facing homelessness.

Our Stable Housing Continuum

Ruth Ellis Center aims to create housing stability for young people following the Coordinated Assessment Model developed by the Coordinated Entry System for Detroit, Highland Park, and Hamtramck. Our goal is to connect young people to shelter and housing resources quickly.

Creating safe and stable housing solutions for young people who are unstably housed involves building trust, making connections, and providing LGBTQ+ supportive services, as outlined in the image below.

Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) at Ruth Ellis Center provides rental and utility assistance, case management, lease-up support, and other services to help LGBTQ+ young people obtain and maintain safe and stable housing.

The impact of stable and secure housing is immeasurable.

  • We have achieved a 97 percent housing stability rate in a short time.
  • 69 young people now live in safe and stable housing
  • 61 participants obtained health insurance
  • We added supportive housing case managers.
