Host A Fundraiser

First and foremost, thank you! Individuals & groups can have a huge impact on the Center’s ability to bring awareness to the harmful effects of family and societal rejection based on a young person’s sexual orientation, gender identity and/or gender expression. Your support will also help sustain the operations at Ruth Ellis Center, increasing our capacity to focus on our top priority– the youth and young adults who come to the Center seeking safety and support.

Here is your checklist for hosting a fundraising event in support of Ruth Ellis Center:

Contact Mark Erwin-McCormick, Director of Development & Advancement to share your ideas. He can be reached via e-mail at or (313) 252-1950. Please indicate whether you would like a representative of Ruth Ellis Center to be in attendance and/or provide remarks at your event.

When you are ready to begin promoting your event, request a high-resolution REC logo and REC language (if needed), from our Communications Manager, I’Sha Schultz. She can be reached at or (313) 252-1950.

Send final draft to I’Sha so that she can ensure all language and images pertaining to Ruth Ellis Center are proofed and ready to begin sharing.

Send us the final version of the flyer or invite so that we can help promote the event on our social media channels and e-mail distribution list (if open to the public).

Ruth Ellis Center is a 501 (c)(3) organization. Proceeds from your event are tax deductible. Let us know who donated and the amount, and make sure to include mailing addresses so that we may provide appropriate documentation– plus we want to thank everyone too! Additional questions? Not a problem. Give us a call today at (313) 252-1950. We are thrilled to have your support!
