The Ruth Ellis Center provides residential, drop-in programs, and mental health services. LGBTQ youth need helpers and advocates who get “it.” We get it. We understand your needs and can help you find pathways to safety and independence.

The Ruth Ellis Center provides long and short-term safe space and support services for runaway, homeless and at-risk LGBTQ youth in Detroit and Southeastern Michigan.

Ruth Ellis Center is contracted through the Detroit-Wayne County Community Mental Health Agency to provide free mental health services to youth who are between the ages of 7-17, Wayne County Residents and Medicaid eligible.

This service is available to youth in need of a permanent mailing address for purposes associated with employment, housing, social services, medical/mental health care providers, and correspondence with family. Wrap around services focused on youth experiencing homelessness who are LGBTQ. On the street work focused in areas with LGBTQ youth ages 13-24 who are not connected to formal resources.
